💔 THE PRICE OF BAD ADVICE
EPISODE 10: THE WIFE WHO TURNED AWAY 😭
David had lost the use of his legs, but he never imagined he would also have to beg for his wife’s love.
The accident had changed his life forever. Yet the pain of his injuries was nothing compared to the heartbreak of realizing that the woman he loved might be slowly giving up on him.
And just when their marriage seemed close to falling apart, a shocking revelation about his accident threatened to change everything. 😱
💔 THE NIGHT DAVID CRIED IN SILENCE
David sat in his wheelchair outside the bedroom, staring at the glass of water he had come to ask Amara for.
He had heard everything.
His wife was tired of caring for him. She felt trapped by her responsibilities, and somewhere in her heart, she was beginning to regret promising to stand by him.
He wanted to enter the room and confront her, but he couldn’t find the strength.
Instead, he quietly turned his wheelchair around and returned to the sitting room.
That night, David cried silently.
Not because of his injured legs, but because he was afraid that the woman he loved was abandoning him while he was still alive.
😔 THE FOLLOWING MORNING
“Amara, please, can you help me with my bath before you leave for the shop?” David asked gently.
Amara, who was getting ready for work, sighed.
“David, I have so much to do today. Can’t you wait until Mama is ready?”
David looked at her sadly.
“You know Mama isn’t strong enough to do everything.”
“And what about me?” Amara snapped. “Do you think I don’t get tired? I have a business to run, food to prepare, and everybody depends on me!”
David lowered his eyes.
“I’m sorry, Amara. I didn’t mean to upset you.”
For a moment, guilt crossed her face. But instead of apologizing, she picked up her handbag and walked out.
David watched her leave.
The woman who had once rushed to the hospital, crying and begging him not to die, was now struggling to spare a few minutes to help him.
And he couldn’t understand what had changed.
🐍 AUNTY STELLA’S DANGEROUS ADVICE
Later that afternoon, Aunty Stella visited Amara at her provision shop.
“My dear, how long do you intend to live like this?” Stella asked after listening to Amara’s complaints. “You are young. You have dreams. Must your entire life stop because your husband is injured?”
Amara looked uncomfortable.
“But he’s my husband, Aunty. I can’t just abandon him.”
“Nobody said you should abandon him,” Stella replied. “But you must protect your future. What if he takes years to recover? What will happen to your business? Who will take care of you?”
Amara had no answer.
Then Stella leaned closer.
“Why don’t you consider moving out with David’s permission? Let his mother and other relatives help him. You can visit him without carrying the entire burden.”
“Move out? Where would I go?” Amara asked.
“Think about it,” Stella said. “Sometimes, you must make difficult decisions before life makes them for you.”
With that, she left.
But Stella had planted a seed of doubt in Amara’s heart—and it was beginning to grow.
💔 “DAVID, I DON’T KNOW ANYMORE.”
That evening, David asked Amara to sit down with him.
“Amara, can we talk?”
“About what?” she asked impatiently.
“About us.”
David took a deep breath.
“I heard your conversation last night. I heard you say you were tired of caring for me and that sometimes you wanted to run away.”
Amara’s expression changed.
“So you were listening to my private conversation?”
“I wasn’t trying to listen. I came to ask you for water.”
His voice trembled.
“Amara, I know this situation is difficult. I know you’re tired, and I’m sorry my condition has placed so much responsibility on you. But I need to know something.”
He paused, fighting back tears.
“Are you still willing to stand by me, or are you only staying because you pity me?”
Amara stared at him.
She remembered their wedding day, the promises they had made, and the love they once shared.
But she also remembered Aunty Stella’s warning.
Finally, she spoke.
“David, I don’t know anymore.”
Those four words shattered him.
A tear rolled down his cheek.
Amara immediately felt the weight of what she had said, but before she could explain herself, someone knocked at the door.
It was Emeka.
And he had news that would change everything.
😱 THE TRUTH ABOUT THE ACCIDENT
Emeka greeted them before turning toward David.
“David, there’s something I need to tell you about the accident.”
David frowned.
“What is it?”
“I’ve been making some enquiries, and something about that accident doesn’t make sense.”
Amara turned toward him.
“What are you talking about?”
Emeka looked directly at David.
“The driver who caused your accident has been found. According to the police, he claims you weren’t the person he was trying to avoid.”
David’s eyes widened.
“What?”
Emeka swallowed hard.
“He says another vehicle forced him into your lane.”
The room fell silent.
Then Emeka added something that made Amara’s heart race.
“The description he gave of that vehicle…”
He stopped and looked between David and Amara.
“…is something you both need to hear.”
David gripped the arms of his wheelchair.
“Emeka, stop keeping us in suspense. Tell me everything!”
Emeka took a deep breath.
“The vehicle was a black SUV. The driver says it followed you for several minutes before the collision. And according to his statement, the person behind the wheel appeared to know exactly where you were going.”
Amara covered her mouth.
David stared at Emeka in disbelief.
“Are you saying someone deliberately caused my accident?”
“I’m saying the police are investigating that possibility,” Emeka replied. “But there’s something else.”
He reached into his pocket and brought out his phone.
“I found a witness who saw the SUV before the crash. The witness recognized the person driving it.”
David’s heart pounded.
“Who was it?”
Emeka looked toward Amara.
Then he spoke the words that turned her blood cold.
“Amara, the witness says the driver looked exactly like someone you know very well.”
Amara stepped backward.
“No… that can’t be true.”
David turned toward her slowly.
“Amara?”
She couldn’t look him in the eyes.
Because suddenly, the advice Aunty Stella had given her that afternoon seemed far more sinister than she had first imagined.
And David began to wonder whether the people surrounding his family were truly trying to help him—or whether someone wanted him out of the way.
