part 36; Amara was betrayed by the people she trusted most

😱💔 AMARA WAS BETRAYED BY THE PEOPLE SHE TRUSTED MOST!

PART 36: THE MAN PULLING THE STRINGS 👀🐍

The moment Amara heard her husband’s voice echo through the house, hope rushed into her heart.

“WHERE IS MY WIFE?” he shouted again.

Her sister-in-law froze beside the bedroom door. The confident smile that had been on her face only moments earlier disappeared.

For the first time, Amara saw fear in her eyes.

“Please!” Amara cried weakly. “I’m here! Come and save me!”

The bedroom door flew open.

Her husband, Daniel, rushed inside and stopped in shock at the sight before him. Amara lay trembling on the bed, her face covered in tears, while the serpent twisted across the blankets.

“AMARA!”

He rushed toward her, but his sister screamed.

“DON’T TOUCH IT!”

Daniel stopped.

His eyes moved from the serpent to his sister.

“What is happening here?” he demanded.

His sister took a step backward. “I can explain everything!”

“Then explain why my pregnant wife is terrified and crying for help!”

Amara reached toward him with a trembling hand.

“Daniel… she knew. She knew something was going to happen to me.”

Daniel turned toward his sister.

“Is that true?”

She shook her head desperately.

“She’s sick! She’s confused! You know how ill she has been!”

But Amara gathered every ounce of strength she had left.

“No!” she cried. “I heard you outside the door. You said I should never have married your brother!”

Daniel’s expression changed.

“What did you say to her?”

His sister said nothing.

Then the serpent suddenly slid off the bed and disappeared beneath a heavy wardrobe.

Amara screamed again.

Daniel immediately pulled her away from the edge of the bed and called for help. He did not wait for another explanation. His wife needed urgent medical attention, and so did their unborn child.

As he carried her toward the hallway, Amara clutched his shirt.

“Daniel, don’t trust your sister.”

He looked down at her, his eyes filled with confusion and pain.

“Amara, she’s my family.”

Amara began to cry harder.

“And I was your wife. But look what happened to me!”

Those words struck him like a slap.

For months, he had believed his sister was caring for Amara while he handled business matters away from home. He had trusted her completely.

Now he was beginning to wonder whether that trust had been a terrible mistake.

Suddenly, his phone vibrated.

An unknown number had sent him a message.

“If you want your wife to survive, stop asking questions about your father’s death.”

Daniel stared at the screen.

His father’s death?

What did Amara’s suffering have to do with something that had happened years ago?

Another message arrived.

“Your sister is only following orders. The real enemy is someone you call a friend.”

Daniel’s blood ran cold.

He slowly turned toward his sister, who was standing at the top of the stairs.

“Who sent this?” he demanded.

She looked at the phone, and her face lost every trace of color.

“I don’t know.”

“Don’t lie to me!”

“I swear I don’t know!”

But Daniel noticed something she had failed to hide.

She wasn’t surprised by the message.

She was terrified of what it revealed.

Before he could question her further, a black car pulled up outside the house.

A man stepped out.

He wore a dark suit and carried a small leather briefcase. He walked toward the front door as if he owned the property.

Daniel stared through the window.

Then he whispered a name he had not spoken in years.

“Mr. Okafor…”

His father’s former business partner.

The same man who had attended the funeral, comforted the family, and promised to help Daniel protect his father’s legacy.

The same man who had mysteriously disappeared after a bitter dispute over the family inheritance.

And the same man Daniel had once considered a second father.

The doorbell rang.

Daniel’s sister began trembling.

“Don’t open that door,” she whispered.

Daniel turned toward her.

“Why?”

She burst into tears.

“Because if he finds out that Amara is still alive, he will finish what he started!”

Daniel felt the ground shift beneath him.

Still alive?

What did she mean?

He looked toward Amara, who was barely conscious in his arms.

Then he looked back at his sister.

“Tell me everything. Right now!”

She covered her face.

“I didn’t want to hurt Amara. I was told that if she gave birth to this baby, the truth about your father’s inheritance would come out. I was promised money to keep her away from the truth.”

Daniel’s heart pounded.

“Who promised you the money?”

His sister slowly lowered her hands.

“Mr. Okafor.”

At that moment, someone knocked on the door.

Three slow, deliberate knocks.

Then the man’s voice came from outside.

“Daniel, my boy. Open the door. We need to talk.”

Daniel tightened his grip around his wife.

For years, he had believed his father’s business partner was the man who had helped their family survive its darkest days.

Now he wondered whether that man had caused those dark days in the first place.

And then came the final blow.

His sister reached into her pocket and pulled out a folded photograph.

She handed it to Daniel with shaking fingers.

“This is why he wants Amara gone,” she whispered.

Daniel unfolded the photograph.

It showed his father standing beside a woman holding a newborn baby.

On the back, in his father’s handwriting, were the words:

“My true heir. Protect this child at all costs.”

Daniel looked at the photograph.

Then he looked at Amara.

His wife was pregnant.

And suddenly, everything made terrifying sense.

The baby she was carrying might not simply be his child.

It might be the key to an inheritance worth millions—and the reason someone was willing to destroy their entire family.

Outside, Mr. Okafor knocked again.

“Daniel! I know you’re in there!”

Daniel looked at his sister and asked the question that would change everything.

“WHOSE CHILD IS AMARA CARRYING?”

His sister opened her mouth to answer.

But before she could speak, the lights went out.

A scream came from the hallway.

And when the emergency lights flickered back on, Amara was gone.

Only her wedding ring remained on the floor.
