💔 The Sister Who Returned from the Dead
The room fell silent.
Margaret sat frozen in her chair, staring at the woman standing across the conference table. Richard had gone pale, and the other board members exchanged nervous glances.
Daniel had just revealed that the person responsible for his sister’s disappearance was someone in that very room.
But before anyone could speak, the woman slowly turned toward Margaret.
“Tell them what happened that night,” she said.
Margaret shook her head.

“Really?” the woman replied. “Then perhaps I should remind you.”
She reached into her handbag and removed an old photograph.

The chairman leaned forward.
“Who is that man?”
Daniel answered before his sister could speak.
“His name was Victor. He was our father’s business partner. And according to the records, he died ten years ago.”
Richard swallowed hard.
“Because he did die.”
Daniel shook his head.
“No. His death was staged.”
Gasps filled the room.
The woman stared at her brother.
“How do you know?”
Daniel placed another document on the table.
“Because I found him.”
Margaret suddenly stood up.
“This meeting is over!”
“No,” the chairman said firmly. “Sit down, Margaret. We are not leaving until we understand what is happening.”
For the first time, Margaret appeared genuinely frightened.
Daniel continued.
“Victor discovered that millions of dollars were being transferred out of our family’s accounts. He confronted the people responsible, and shortly afterward, he disappeared. Our father began investigating. Three days later, he was dead.”
The woman closed her eyes.
All those years, she had believed her father’s death was an unfortunate tragedy. She had never imagined it might have been connected to the betrayal that destroyed her life.
“And me?” she whispered. “What happened to me?”
Daniel looked at her with sorrow.
“You discovered part of the truth. Someone threatened you, and you were forced to leave before you could expose the people involved.”
She shook her head.
“I remember receiving a warning. But I never knew who sent it.”
Daniel turned toward Margaret.
“She did.”
Margaret’s face crumpled.
“You don’t understand what happened!” she cried. “I was trying to protect this family!”
“By destroying it?” Daniel demanded.
“I had no choice!”
The words escaped her before she could stop herself.
Everyone stared at her.
Richard stepped away from the table.
“Margaret, what are you saying?”
She covered her mouth, realizing what she had revealed.
The woman walked closer.
“Tell me the truth. Did you arrange my disappearance?”
Margaret began to cry.
“I never wanted things to go this far.”
“That isn’t an answer.”
Margaret looked at her.
“Yes,” she whispered. “I knew about the plan to force you out. I knew they wanted you gone before the ownership documents were reviewed.”
The woman’s eyes filled with tears.
“You watched me lose everything. You let me believe my family had abandoned me. You allowed me to spend years wondering what I had done wrong.”
Margaret lowered her head.
“I was afraid.”
“And what about my father? Were you afraid when he died?”
Margaret’s silence was answer enough to make the room uneasy.
Then Daniel spoke again.
“There is one more thing you need to know.”
He opened a small envelope and removed a handwritten letter.
“Our father left this with Victor before he died. Victor kept it hidden because he believed the people responsible were still watching the family.”
The woman took the letter with trembling hands.
The handwriting was unmistakably her father’s.

“What happened?” she asked.

A message had been left for him.
