The incident happened on May 30, 2026, at a McDonald’s in Yuba City, California. According to police and reports from local news outlets, employee Jacob Smith suffered severe burns after coworker Jalani Bluett allegedly threw hot oil at him.

According to Smith’s mother, Amber Smith, her son was in an office preparing to count money when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye.

Police identified the alleged attacker as 23-year-old Jalani Bluett.
